ColdSpot Appliance Services

For a little less than 50 years, from 1928 until 1977, ColdSpot was a well-known appliance brand in the United States. The company’s first claim to fame was an electric refrigerator that made its public debut at the Paris International Exposition. That model gained great acceptance among consumers longing to find a reliable, electrical way to keep their food chilled. However, it was quite pricey. In 1934, ColdSpot’s engineers collaborated with Sears to develop an updated model that was more reliable and streamlined, featuring lighter aluminum shelving as well. In the next few decades, refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners were a popular consumer choice. Innovations included fiber glass insulation, “sweat-free” shelves, frost-free options, a cold water dispenser and a built-in vegetable crisper. In 1977, Sears chose to replace all ColdSpot labels with the Kenmore name.
