Is that a Spy in your Refrigerator?

Is that a Spy in your Refrigerator?

It’s not hard to see that the world has gone digital. We are always wired to connect to… everything. From our cell phones, computers, cars, scales that we weigh ourselves with, wrist bands and shoes from nike, to yes you guessed it… our house-hold appliances. Now our refrigerators, stoves, heating and air conditioning systems, washing machines, to our blenders and television’s are being wired to connect to the internet and always on.

One organization that likes this… the CIA. Why? It is a perfect opportunity for “Big Brother” to spy on you through everything you own. Before you call us crazy take a look at this months Wired Magazine cover story “The NSA Is Building the Country’s Biggest Spy Center“.

In a different article that Wired published on all our devices being wired and spying they say:

All those new online devices are a treasure trove of data if you’re a “person of interest” to the spy community. Once upon a time, spies had to place a bug in your chandelier to hear your conversation. With the rise of the “smart home,” you’d be sending tagged, geolocated data that a spy agency can intercept in real time when you use the lighting app on your phone to adjust your living room’s ambiance.

So if you hear some strange sounds coming from your washing machine we’ll check it for CIA bugs (kidding), but if you do need us to fix your broken appliance, wired or not, we will come to you and get it working again.
