How Whirlpool is Becoming an Innovator of Home Appliances

whirlpool logoWith over 100,000 employees and $10 billion in annual sales, Whirlpool continues to set the standard for the global appliance industry. Not content to rest on its laurels, this global dominator continues to raise the bar. Its goal is to exceed the needs and expectations of busy consumers while taking steps to protect the environment.

Even before Whirlpool pioneered the automatic spinner-type washer in 1947, it was already making a name for itself in the appliance industry. Today, it is the go-to provider of clothes washers, dryers, freezers, refrigerators, dishwashers, home air conditioners, ovens, ranges and numerous small appliances. These products are sold under well-known brand names that include KitchenAid, Whirlpool, Kenmore, Roper and many more.

In spite of brisk competition from rivals such as GE, Whirlpool remains at the forefront. The proof was on display for all eyes to see at the 2016 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) held in Las Vegas. The products Whirlpool highlighted were all designed to help people care for themselves, their families and the environment.

Thanks to advances in smart home management technology, Whirlpool has been able to make innovations in their appliances that accomplish much more than just keeping clothes clean and dry. Their new Connect to Care technology allows families using the new Smart Top Load Washer and Dryer to make a small but significant donation to Habitat for Humanity with each load they wash. This technology will also soon be used by owners of the Smart Dishwasher, which will be capable of ordering detergent on a schedule.

As impressive as these self-ordering features are, this is just the beginning. Whirlpool appliances will increasingly be able to communicate with home control programs such as Nest. As a result, Whirlpool dryers will soon register when Nest is set to “away” and lengthen their drying cycles to a more energy-efficient setting. Similarly, dishwashers will run when Nest is set to “away,” making for a quieter environment.

The earth is also front and center on Whirlpool’s priority list. Consequently, innovations in their washers and dryers will allow for the combination of heat pump and ventless technology that will help consumers save on energy costs and conserve space by tucking appliances behind closed doors without needing to worry about finding a vent to the outside.

The innovations don’t stop there. The latest Whirlpool Smart French Door Bottom Mount Refrigerator uses Wi-Fi to enable families to be alerted if they are away when a loss of power occurs. And Whirlpool’s most innovative ranges and ovens decrease cooking times and make preparing food a breeze by providing consumers with more information than ever about food temperature and cooking status.

Clearly, Whirlpool is at the top of its game. Thanks to its focus on bringing only the highest quality products to its customers, products that will address their needs and exceed their expectations, the need for Whirlpool appliance repair will be reduced. At the same time, products will be quieter, more energy-efficient and friendlier to our environment. Clearly, the sky is the limit for this state-of-the-art company.
