Consumers are beginning to purchase home appliances again.
The number of shipments of major home appliances in the U.S. rose this January. A total of 1.7 percent more appliances were shipped throughout the country. This number comes as a sign of the housing market’s slow recovery.
Shipments of the top six appliances – washers, dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers, and ovens – totaled 2.16 million in the month of January. This is a great increase since December, which showed a 4.1 percent decline in big appliance purchases and shipments.
Appliance purchases are watched closely to gauge future activity for appliance manufacturers like Whirlpool, GE, Electrolux, and LG.
