I recently returned home from a camping trip and boy was I happy when I walked back into my kitchen full of sparkling appliances. I love the great outdoors but there are definitely things I miss when I’m away from home. With a camping season coming up, I began searching for a new, more efficient way to cook outdoors. A company by the name of BioLite recently created what is to be the modern-day stove for camping.
Using nothing but collected twigs, CampStove lights and boils quickly and can cook food without the use of harmful gases and fuels. On top of being eco-friendly, CampStove provides electricity through the heat provided by the fire. That way you can make sure your phone – err flashlight! doesn’t run out of battery. You can still enjoy a warm campfire and roast smores on the CampStove, and because the stove uses renewable materials instead of petroleum, there’s no danger of toxic fumes or unpleasant smells. The best part about CampStove is that it’s no bigger than a personal plastic water bottle. BIoLite will be manufacturing CampStove in time for the summer and camping season. They have also created HomeStove, mainly for uses in developing nations, which will be manufactured along with CampStove. More information can be found @biolitestove.com. Whether you use it for camping, or include it in your emergency kit, CampStove is a step forward from conventional, less eco-friendly appliances to more environmentally conscious appliances, and we’re on board with that.
